Fallen leaves now carpet the island. A Red Fox provided an unusual sight today. The animal was sitting out on a fallen tree limb overhanging the swamp contently surveying his surroundings. It didn't appear bothered at all by my presence. Twenty-eight species observed on/around the island to include: Double-crested Cormorant Great Blue Heron Green Heron Tundra Swan Mallard Ruddy Duck Red-tailed Hawk Killdeer Ring-billed Gull Red-bellied Woodpecker Downy Woodpecker Yellow-bellied Sapsucker Fish Crow Carolina Chickadee Carolina Wren Winter Wren Ruby-crowned Kinglet Golden-crowned Kinglet Hermit Thrush American Robin Yellow-rumped Warbler Eastern Towhee Song Sparrow Swamp Sparrow White-throated Sparrow Northern Cardinal Red-winged Blackbird American Goldfinch Tom Marko MOS-MCC tlmarko@us.med.navy.mil ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
