We didn't see/hear the American Bittern or Sora that have = been reported lately, but had a few highlights. Perhaps the best birds were 51 flyover Tundra Swans, in two big V = formations. Also of note was one immature White-Crowned Sparrow mixed = in with the songs and white-throateds along the main impoundment path. = One of the resident Red-Headed Woodpeckers (an adult) made an = appearance. Also along that path we had a very brief glimpse of an = accipiter carrying some form of prey--wish we'd had another second to = see it! The overgrown field about two or three fields back on the right held = large numbers of sparrows, but not great diversity: a few Chipping, and = large numbers of Swamp, Song, and White-Throated (which of course tended = to hang more in the edge shrubs).=20 Waterfowl in the main impoundment were sparse: just two Ring-Necked = Ducks and one Pied-Billed Grebe. Finally, one more note on hunters, especially given the recent = discussion on the topic on MD-Osprey. There were plenty in the area = today, and one of them informed us that if they'd seen us, MD DNR would = have given us a fine for being in the area without orange vests while = hunting was open. Maybe we're just clueless, but I didn't know about = this requirement until today (though it seems a sensible rule). = Consider this a public service announcement for anyone out there who = =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D didn't already know. =========================================================================
