(redux) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed June, et al. - I just noted that a definition of jizz is offered on the back cover of the field guide I quoted: "Jizz: The essential character of a bird as derived from a combination of form, behavior, and sometimes, dominate coloring." The back cover also adds, "Using an unconventional illustration style, with minimum plumage detail, the artists show, species by species, those fleeting 'jizz' impressions of bids which are often the only way to make identifications -- because feather detail just can't be seen." (Again, this field guide is for British and European birds ... I've never seen an author just focus on the jizz aspect of North American birds like this). Phil Literature Cited: Ian Wallace, et al.
