I saw about 6 birds that I would swear were purple finch, I had a real good, long, look at them. It has been a while since I have seen them so I am not comfortable making the call. But the coloring on the breast and back were brilliant Raspberry coloring. They were in the multi-flora rose between the road and the fenced in pond that the construction is being done to.
