It's entire head and neck are white. Our local experts believe it is leucistic and not a hybrid. It sure stands out amont the "normal" geese. Our retired USFWS waterfowl expert who now volunteers at the Patuxent Refuge also reported a tundra swan that stopped at one of the research center inpoundments today during his weekly waterbird survey on the refuge. Although the research area is off limits to the public, the "white-headed" goose can probably still be seen at the Visitor Center. It seems to be staying with the geese that feed at the Beltsville Ag. Center and come to Lake Redington at the NWVC after they feed.
