Nothing outstanding, but an enjoyable late afternoon walk. Woodpeckers seemed particularly numerous, including: Red-headed Woodpeckers - Throughout the wooded area - Appeared to be storing acorns Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers - 2 or 3 Downy - Several Red-bellied - Several Flicker - Several Myrtle Warbler - Numerous Rusty Blackbirds - Numerous Brown Creeper - 1 White-breasted Nuthatch - Several Harrier- 1 close at eye level Goldfinch - Several Bluebird - Several At home in suburban DC, I enjoyed great close views of an adult Cooper's Hawk sitting in a tree overlooking my yard. I was amazed how difficult it was to see sitting quietly in the shadows under the canopy of a tree. Happy birding, Dan Eberly Bethesda ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
