Not quite the same diversity as last week, but here are the highlights: 1 AM. WIGEON (4MR) 1 GADWALL (4MR) 3 GREEN-WINGED TEAL (4MR) 1 COMMON GOLDENEYE (4MR) (w/BUFFLEHEADS) 4MR also had lots of RUDDY DUCKS, AM. COOTS, PIED-BILLED GREBES, MALLARDS, AM. BLACK DUCKS, CANADA GEESE, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, GREAT BLUE HERONS, and an ad. BALD EAGLE eating a fish. 1 fem. HOODED MERGANSER (KAG) 2 AMERICAN KESTRELS (KP) 1 MERLIN (KP - harassing the 2 kestrels and bathing in a rain pool) 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER (KP - flying over and calling, I think I flushed if from a wet spot. My latest for DC) 17 AMERICAN PIPITS (down from last week) 1 late LINCOLN'S SPARROW (KAG) Also, there were still thousands of LAUGHING GULLS on the Anacostia. Oh, and a 2-nd winter LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL at the Tidal Basin.
