We had a pleasant time at the = Point watching a few migrants arriving from the mainland and looking for = waterbirds. Highlights were: 20 Common Loons; 19 Brown Pelicans; 4 Great = Cormorants; a single first-year gannet; at least 6 Surf Scoters and one = Black Scoter (several other distant scoters were left unidentified); 5 = Long-tailed Ducks; 23 Bufflehead; a Red-breasted Merganser; 2 Northern = Harriers; 2 Bonaparte's Gulls; 2 Royal Terns; 43 Tree Swallows still on = the move; 37 bluebirds (not rare but a nice number); and Eastern = Meadowlarks in the fields north of the Point. We also made the = acquaintance of sea roaches, biggest sowbug I ever saw. Ian caught one = for me to look at up close. The Waterfowl Festival was worth the visit = too and we enjoyed the Talbot County Bird Club exhibit with its = "talking" bird.
