Our reward, and by far the best bird of the day, was a = stunning adult male Harlequin Duck, swimming close to shore on the bay = side of the Point, across from the entrance to the picnic area. He gave = us great looks, both from the car during the rain, and later when the = rains let up and we were able to walk over and admire him a bit more. = He was at times swimming with some of the many Bufflehead in the area; = at other times alone. That was it for duck species at Point Lookout, though, and we only added = one more on the day (Hooded Mergansers in the pond on Cornfield Harbor = Dr.). Other birds of interest at Point Lookout included:=20 Common Loons (about 25 at Point Lookout) Northern Gannets (probably about 10 total, more adults than immatures) Sanderlings (about 10 total) Dunlin (a flyover flock of about 30) Royal Terns (3) Forster's Terns (many) Tree Swallows (2, fighting the winds during a storm) A late Palm Warbler We also saw a large flock (about 25 seen, plus many more heard) of = Eastern Meadowlarks at Cornfield Harbor Dr., and late in the afternoon = we saw a group of about 10-15 Common Loons together in the Patuxent = at Solomons Island. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =========================================================================
