The "Birds of Maryland and the District of Columbia", by Robert E. Stewart and Chandler S. Robbins. Though published in 1958 (the year of my birth), when the state list stood at 333 (my own state list is now 380 in comparison!), nonetheless, the volume is still extremely important, not just from a historical standpoint, but much of the information and details are still valid. The introductory sections are great. The book can easily be bought from the on-line use book sellers, for about $25-30. Checking yesterday, I even saw it for less than $20 on barnes and noble.com. A cheap price for the amount of information contained. Enjoy!
