Our itinerary took us north into Chester = River sound south of Eastern Neck Island then back through Kent Narrows = to Bodkin Island and Tilghman Point returning to the Narrows by 1:30 PM. = We found 41 bird species, the following annotated list only lists = waterbirds and raptors: *Common Loon* 47 widespread and approachable. *Horned Grebe* 8 easily flushed, along Morgan's Neck and 1 at Parsons = I. *Great Cormorant* 1 young bird on a channel marker near a fish weir = south of Eastern Neck Island *Double-crested Cormorant* 18 *Great Blue Heron* 1 *Turkey Vulture* 40+ *Black Vulture* 3 over Morgan's Neck *Canada Goose* not counted, over 1000, many over E. Neck I. *Mute Swan* 195, most were around Parson's I. *Tundra Swan* 3 with Mute Swans at Parson's I. *American Black Duck* 50 *Mallard* 25 *Long-tailed Duck...Oldsquaw...whatever* 360, most (230) on oyster bed = south of Eastern Neck Island, also numerous in Prospect Bay. *Surf Scoter* 18 in Prospect Bay, 2 in Eastern Bay *White-winged Scoter* 5 Prospect Bay *Common Goldeneye* 1 Prospect Bay *Bufflehead* 301 widespread mostly near shore, many were along Morgan's = Neck *Osprey* 1 Tilghman Pt. *Bald Eagle* 1 Tilghman Pt, 3 Morgan's Neck *Northern Harrier* 1 Kent Narrows, 1 Horsehead *Cooper's Hawk* 1 Kent Narrows *Red-shouldered Hawk* 1 Horsehead *Red-tailed Hawk* 1 Kent Narrows, 1 Horsehead *American Coot* 25 Kent Narrows Gulls & terns were not numerous *Laughing Gull* 10 *Ring-billed Gull* 20+ *Herring Gull* 15+ *Great Black-backed Gull* 15+ *Royal Tern* 1 over Horsehead *Forster's Tern* 4 It was a very nice day to be out on the Bay with a gentle south wind and = modest waves.
