Two second or third year Bald Eagles were circling as I arrived. Also present were over 300 Canada Geese, many Mallards, 3 Buffleheads (all males), dozens of Robins, 3 Eastern Bluebirds, Mrytle Warblers, Ruby Crowned Kinglets, Cardinals, 3 Flickers, 1 Downy Woodpecker, many White Throated Sparrows, and one beautiful Fox Sparrow. I've seen immature Bald Eagles in the Upper Marlboro area several times in the last few weeks, both at Schoolhouse Pond and along Brown Station Road, where last week I saw an immature Bald Eagle unsuccessfully pursue a Ring Billed Gull.
