On November 19, I found around 500 RING-NECKED DUCK in the Ten-mile Creek area of Black Hill Regional Park. The flock also contained about 50 AMERICAN WIGEON and a single female LESSER SCAUP. The east end of the lake had a small group of BUFFLEHEAD and 3 HOODED MERGANSER flew over while I was checking the dead trees at the extreme east end. The west end of the lake had hundreds of RUDDY DUCK scattered all over, together with AMERICAN COOT. There was a FOX SPARROW at the visitor center feeders, and I found another 4 FOX SPARROW at various bushy places around the park. At one point I had 3 HERMIT THRUSH in sight at the same time. Good birding. Mike Bowen Bethesda D.H.
