Yard in Rock Creek produced a Hermit Thrush in the parking lot next to the air conditioners. I found it among the small flock of Robins, Dark-eyed Juncos, and a Carolina Wren (very vocal). The parking lot was very birdy - even more so than behind the yard. WB Nuthatches Carolina Chickadee Tufted Titmouse Red Bellied Woodpeckers - 3 or 4 Goldfinches Hairy Woodpeckers I also found a half dozen bats (brown bats maybe- I really have no idea) flying over the Maint. Yard, the Ridge, and the Equitation Field between 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. They were quite lovely against that crisp blue sky and they flew within 8-10 ft. of the ground giving me good looks. Also heard a Gray Catbird near the parking lot. I seem to have missed finding Cardinals. What a shame. I hope West Nile didn't get them all.
