Ross' Goose MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hello All, I was out around Oak Grove on my usual rounds (on Kinder Rd at the time) when I heard a sizable flock of Snow Geese in the distance. I decided to pursue and found them in the field on the north side of Hickory Hill Rd at its intersection with Guard Rd (SE of Federalsburg). I had barely started searching the flock when they all took off, scattered by 2 eagles - an adult and an almost adult (brown stripe on tail). The geese circled and landed, stayed about 5 minutes and did then same thing again. This time a young eagle. The third time part of the flock landed closer to me. In scanning through them, a small head popped up. Hello! I got several good looks as the bird fed in the corn stubble and an excellent comparison look when all of the heads went up as the adult eagle cruised by again. The Ross' was lost in the mass when they all took off yet again. Beyond that, I was a bit of an odd morning. Some common birds were hard to come by - 3 Cardinals, 1 Chickadee, 0 titmice, 0 kinglets, 0 blackbirds. On the other hand, I had a total of 11 Palm Warblers in four different locations (a high count), 5 Pine Warblers (inc. one on a weedy ditch bank, which seemed an odd location) and 4 Hermit Thrush.
