Yes, I am at work today -all day....I did however take advantage of no boss today and got out and birded the grounds of the Perry Point VA complex in Cecil County. 43 species in a little over 3 hours of non-aggressive birding. Other than Sharp-shinned Hawk, there wasnt too much to report as far as land birds go. Water birds were in good numbers with 13 species of waterfowl and 5 gulls being present. (not counting the domestic goose that I tried real hard to make into a snow goose). Nearly all ducks were seen in Mill Creek with the exceptions being Tundra Swan-Furnace Bay, Canada Goose-Susquehanna River, and Black Duck-Ches. Bay.below is a breakdown of what was seen. Gulls: Great Black-backed (15) Herring Gull (12) Ring-billed (66) Laughing (9) Bonaparte's (20) Waterfowl: A. Coot (100+) Tundra Swan (7) Canada Goose (100+) Mallard (50+) A. Black Duck (25) A. Widgeon (1) Gadwall (15) Canvasback (31) Redhead (6) -First of the fall for me Ring-necked (300+) L. Scaup (12) Ruddy Duck (300+) Buffle Head (50+) *looking out onto the flats I could see tens of thousands of Ducks, Geese, Swans etc....Perhaps this weekend i'll get out there on my boat and take a look....I'll let you know. Sunday may be a good day since the hunters will be home...
