So out I went in the low-20's windy weather to practice digiscoping at Centennial Lake. (One of these days I might even master the technique and get some pictures that are in good focus.) Along the north shore of the lake there was an EASTERN PHOEBE, right down by the water, seemingly unconcerned about the cold and wind. There was also the usual collection of water birds, including: Canada Goose, Mallard, Bufflehead, Ring-necked Duck, Hooded Merganser, Ruddy Duck, Great Blue Heron, and Kingfisher. And some very tame White-throated Sparrows were on the path and let me walk right up to them. --------------------------------------------- June Tveekrem Columbia, Howard County, MD tweekiebird@toadmail.com ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
