The tiny seeds were pretty slim = pickings for him, however. =20 I remembered I had a bag of stale peanuts left from summer soccer games = that I had put in my bird seed storage container. I scattered a double = handful, and soon the crow was back. I had to laugh--he quizzically = picked up one, thought about flying off, then paused. He went over to a = second with the first in his beak. He tried to pick up the second while = still holding the first, but it kept dropping out. He set the first = peanut down and picked up the second. He got a good grip on the second, = then picked up the original peanut and flew away with both in his beak. = Naturally, he has been back for the rest. =20 I now have a profusion of juncos, a flittering of goldfinches, and dash = of towhees. =20 What a great pleasure from a just a handful of seeds. Hope your = arm-chair birding rewards were as good as mine today...
