They're out there chipping all winter long, but only a snowfall brings them in. On the down side, today also produced a rare House Sparrow. They're over there at my neighbors' a 1/10th of a mile a way, but only rarely turn up here. The Cardinals are a little more frequent, but still don't turn up too often. They were out there today. Alas, none of the even more elusive Song Sparrows today. Living in the woods has it's disadvantages. I also had a nice fly-by by a probable Cooper's while digging the car out. It was big, though the tail appeared squarish. Probably bad lighting, this was a crow-sized bird, hence my supposition it was a Cooper's. Total snow fall here was 7 1/4 inches, though there is some light stuff out there coming down now. The significant snow fall ended about 2 pm.
