McHenry (12/06) MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT During a 2 1/2 walk with Jim Peters 37 species were tallied at Ft. McHenry yesterday (12/06). Highlights included: Horned Grebe (3); American Pipits (42); American Tree Sparrows (3); Fox Sparrow (1); Winter Wren (2); Canvas back (1); and Common Yellowthroat (1). The American Tree Sparrows were out on the wetland trail near the far feeding station. In the Fort's maintenance yard we found the Fox Sparrow and one of the two Winter Wrens. The other Winter Wren and the Common Yellowthroat sightings were in on the wetland trail. The Horned Grebe and 5 of the 42 American Pipits were found as walked the seawall. Another 30 Pipits were flying low over the water beyond the seawall, and we had 8 flying over the wetland. We found an adult Cooper's Hawk but could not find the Goshawk. As the sun melts the snow on the seawall we expect to see the return of the Snow Buntings.
