When I first got there I saw an American Coot in an unfrozen spot in the lake near the entrance. While I was looking at the Coot, I saw a male Wood Duck swim from underneath the boardwalk. That was the first one I saw this year. I also saw a perched Sharp-shinned Hawk getting 'bothered' by some Blue Jays. The hawk flapped it's wings and screamed to scare the jays away and then flew to a branch closer to me. I also saw a Downy Woodpecker, a Northern Flicker, about 4 Song Sparrows, 5 Field Sparrows, dozens of Juncos and dozens of Red-winged Blackbirds, and when I was leaving a Red-bellied Woodpecker.
