I also decided to take population counts and begin my own CBC for Perry Point (for my own records). In the year and a half that I have been birding Perry Point my species list for the complex has grown to 142. Of those 39 species made my list today (my first CBC for the Perry Point VA Complex). Weather could have been a factor for the low species count as it was extremely windy. It was especially gusty along Mill Creek, where I found relatively few ducks. Sparrows were some-what good as I added a new species to my "Point List"- Savannah Sparrow. Below is a breakdown... Date: 12/16/02 Time: 1230 to 1530 Weather: Partly Cloudy Wind: 15-20 mph with Gusts to 30+ Temp: 35-40 F 7.5 Miles birding by car 1 Mile birding by foot Chief area birded was the Perry Point V.A. Facility woods along the Penn. Rail Road Line, Mill Creek, the entire shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay in the 21903 zip code, and the east side of the mouth of the Susquehanna River from Roger's Tavern north to the B & O Rail Road Bridge.
