That having been said, on (at least) islands of French Polynesia there aren't a lot of native passerines and many of these are now quite rare. The relative low initial diversity was mostly a factor of distance from colonizing populations and there have also been a lot of extinctions and near-extinctions over time due to introduction of things like rats and pigs, cutting of forest, etc. Probably the most appropriate bird song for "South Pacific" would be that of the Common Mynah, which seems to be everywhere on these islands!
