The bird did neither wing lifting or tail bobbing and the markings on the breast were much more indicative of a Veery than a Hermit. We had an excellent view of the bird as he flew from the log in the shadows where we originally saw him to a branch about 10 feet from the path. However, when he lifted his wings to fly from the branch, I did notice yellow/buffy feathering where the wings met the body which would be more indicative of the Hermit, correct? The eye ring was prominent but not sharply defined. I did look for the bird again today but did not find him. Thanks again.
