Is this the furtherest north a Brown Pelican has been observed in the bay? Brown Pelican Date: Sun, 29 Dec 2002 16:32:28 -0500 From: Laura Balascio Reply-To: Delaware Birding Organization: University of Delaware To: de-birds@Princeton.EDU This afternoon at 2:30 during a CBCount in the Northeast, MD area, my husband Carey and I observed an immature Brown Pelican sitting on a piling for approximately 15 minutes. The piling was approximately 40 yards from shore. We observed the pelican from the Anchor Marina, the back deck of the Nauti-Goose Saloon and the Northeast Community Park (all located beside each other). The pelican took flight and circled the water, but upon returning to it's original location a GBB Gull was on the piling. The pelican flew south and out of view. All of the above locations can be reach by traveling south on Main Street (MD 272), through the business district of Northeast. Turn right on Walnut Street and follow out to the water (this is prior to 272 returning to 2-way traffic).
