I was summoned to confirm it, arriving about 4 pm. Several hundred Common Mergs were out there, which had not be present this morning, attended by a horde of pirating gulls. The mergs flushed, and the gulls went up, and there was a huge, all white one among them. A second winter Glaucous, according to Sibley. Clearly larger than the Herrings, no black, no mantle, some pale brownish spotting across the mantle. With luck, they'll be there this morning. The LBB appeared to be a regulation graelsii. This was the first Glaucous I've seen in HowCo since the county closed the landfill. We now export our trash to Virginia.
