Pipit + at Gravelly Point MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit This morning (Thurs, Jan. 2nd), on my way to work I heard and then saw an AMERICAN PIPIT flying over Gravelly Point (heading south towards National Airport and over DC waters - yay). Also, the number of LESSER SCAUP is up to c.240 (about 60 higher than yesterday), but the number of CANVASBACKS was lower (only 2 or 3 this morning vs. c.25 yesterday). Didn't see any Greater Scaup this morning, but didn't scrutinize every one. The number of RUDDY DUCKS was also strong, with about 100 birds stretched up and down the coastline between the point and the RR bridge. Also saw a HERMIT THRUSH at the mouth of the Tidal Basin.
