Their second favorite is a homemade "miracle meal" recipe of rendered suet, peanut butter, ect. They also eat commercial suet and favor the peanut butter based varieties. They also eat sunflower chips, peanut hearts and split peanuts. Last summer I had a pair nest in a spare mealworm feeder on the deck (a wooden feeder with plexi-glass sides). It was fascinating to watch the whole process! The babies would often crawl out of the nest and roam around in the feeder. Bonnie Ott Howard County Field Trip Chair Ellicott City, MD P.S. Just got a promo about the new Sibley guides. They are set for April release. Hopefully they will be much easier to carry in the field. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
