What's more, in addition to delivering Saturday night's keynote talk, he will present a Saturday-afternoon workshop on butterflies, in conjunction with his new butterfly book. Note that the dates of the Conference have changed. It will now take place from Saturday through Monday, May 24-26. The setting for the conference is the Bolger Center in Potomac, the large US Postal Service training facility on Democracy Boulevard at Newbridge Drive. Joining the Montgomery County Chapter as co-hosts are the Howard County Chapter and the Patuxent Bird Club. Other Conference highlights: *More than 40 experienced field trip leaders will take you to the hotspots of all three hosting counties, as well as the District of Columbia and nearby Northern Virginia. *Richard Orr, noted dragonfly expert, will present a half-day dragonfly identification workshop followed by a half-day field trip. *MD Atlas coordinator Walter Ellison will lead in-the-field atlasing tutorials. *Sunday will be a day to boost county lists, with day-long listers' trips heading to Montgomery, PG, and Howard counties. *For the adventurous: canoe trips on the mighty Potomac or a vigorous hike on the challenging Billy Goat Trail. *For those desiring a more leisurely pace: there'll be a chance to brush up on botany at Brookside Gardens, check out the bonsai at the National Arboretum, or enjoy a guided tour of the aviary at the National Zoo. Details and registration forms will be sent to all MOS members in early 2003.
