On Sunday we we= re joined by Chris Starling and the four of us birded Worchester. =20 Saturday we started at the Cambridge waterfront where there was a male RE= DHEAD, and a few SANDERLINGS. At Ragged Point the was a FORSTER'S TERN, = but the real highlights of the day were a Blackwater. Near the enterance= to the park the was a 2nd year GOLDEN EAGLE, and on the Wildlife Loop th= ere was a PHOEBE and a 1st year ICELAND GULL. Near Beulah we found anoth= er 1st year ICELAND GULL and a 3rd year LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL. On Sunday we started on Truitt's Landing Road and ended up in Ocean Pines= . On Box Iron Road Jim caught a look at a ROSS' GOOSE before it slipped = from view into a flock of Snow's. At Truitt's there was a LONG-BILLED DO= WITCHER, GREAT HORNED OWL, and MARSH WREN. Along Taylor's Landing Road t= here were at least two CATBIRD, one BROWN THRASHER, and one HOUSE WREN. = On the way back up to Assateague we found two more ROSS' GEESE and a LESS= ER BLACK-BACKED GULL near Ironshire. Assateague held a few more suprises, there was a 1st year male COMMON EID= ER under the bridge by the boat ramp, and a PHEOBE in the parking lot. O= n the way to the ORV zone there was a TRICOLORED HERON by the road. From= the ORV ZONE we found all three SCOTERS, GANNET, 18 WILLET (both subspec= ies, more 'westerns'), and a MERLIN hunting DUNLIN along the beach. All the usual suspects were around Ocean City although we were unable to = relocate the HARLAQUIN that Jim found on the 1st. Having just looked at = Matt Hafner's report I won't bother repeating sightings. We ended the da= y with 99 species, a nice way to get things started.
