For 2001, our count was highest in the nation for this species. Perhaps we will retain our 'not too enviable' position in 2002 also. For our area, the St Michaels Count has shown three consecutive years where #s of Mutes exceeded #s of Tundra Swan. Prior to 1995, Tundras always outnumbered Mutes, usually by quite large margins.
