Highlight certainly was the quite cooperative Red-necked Grebe at the Narrows. Most of the other birds seen there were those mentioned in Jim Brighton's posting. We would add Canvasbacks - visible in a small raft of Scaup east of the Jetty parking lot and also present but far distant beyond (west of) the channel jetty. Open field searching in Q/A and C Counties produced sprinklings of Horned Larks in many places, one field of over 100 American Pipits, another field of over 100 Horned Larks - but neither group showed any Lapland Longspurs nor Snow Buntings. Other highlights included - Red-shouldered Hawk, Northern Harrier, Brown Creeper, Hermit Thrush, Savannah Sparrow, Eastern Meadowlark, and Cowbird (no more lovely than usual, but just not all that regularly found this time of year).
