White-fronted Goose & Hybrid I spent the day birding Queen Anee's and Kent counties. I left Easton on Rt. 309 birding the fields and ponds turning up Pipits and Horned Larks in various locations. There were also several large flocks of Snow Geese but I was unable to turn up any Ross'. On Kent Island I quickly found the Red-necked Grebe. I must admit the bird threw me for a loop. Having never seen an imm. Rd-nkd Grebe I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at. It took me a minute. Also at the narrows were Horned Grebes, Cm. Loon, Oldsquaw, Coot, and a couple Bald Eagles. On the way to Eastern Neck NWR on Rt. 20 just past the Fairlee turnoff in a field on the right was a small flock of Canada Geese which had a beautiful adult Gr. White-fronted Goose and an interesting hybrid. One was a Snow/White-fronted, it was the splitting image of the type pictured in Sibley. Eastern Neck NWR was cold and windy with not much movement. Flocks of Tundra Swan, Canvasback, and Scaup were seen. 48 species seen Cm Loon - Kent Narrows Horned Grebe - Kent Narrows Red-necked Grebe - Kent Narrows Gt.
