Greetings:
Today I spent a few hours birding the Perry Point VA Hospital Grounds.
With 44 species in 2.5 hours the highlights were various waterfowl,
Sparrows, and Woodpeckers.  Also noted were an unusually high number of
Tufted Titmice (is that right titMICE?). I also met two birders from Penn
State.  They were heading to the Delaware coast tomorrow.  Hope they have a
good day! For those interested today's list is as follows:

Waterfowl:
Tundra Swan (16 out on the Susq. flats + 9 flying way inland)
Canada Goose (2000+ Mostly on the old Golf Course- no rarities mixed in)
Mallard (many more then usual)
American Black Duck (very few + one Mallard/Black hybrid)
Ring-necked Duck (many)
Canvasback (46)
Gadwall (many)
Lesser Scaup (many)
Ruddy Duck (39)
Bufflehead (many)
Common Mergs (many at the mouth of the Susq. R.)
Hooded Mergs (20)
American Coot (many)

Gulls:
Great Black-backed (few)
Herring Gull (Few)
Ring-billed Gull (many)

Raptors:
Turkey Vulture (3)
Bald Eagle (2 mature another imm. that really looked like a Golden but too
far away to call)
Falcon Sp. (saw above the forest canopy never got a good look)

Woodpeckers:
Northern Flicker (3)
Downy Woodpecker (many)
Red-bellied Woodpecker (1)
Pileated Woodpecker (a male and female in the same tree at eye level)

Sparrows:
House (too many)
Song (2)
Savannah (9)
White-throated (15)
Field (1)
Dark-eyed Junco (slate- many)

Others:
A. Crow (18)
Rock Dove (too many)
Blue Jay (6)
N. Mockingbird (10)
N Cardinal (few)
Titmouse (many)
C. Chickadee (8)
Golden-crowned Kinglet (6)
