Woke up in the middle of the night hearing a Whip-poor-will a couple of years ago. Wandered from window to window trying to figure out if it was in the front or back, but couldn't pin it down. Finally when outside and it had stopped, apparently. Went back inside and heard it again. Went back outside, stopped. Finally realized the kids had been playing "I want to be an animal doctor" on the PC and left it running. The monitor had gone blank in the power saver mode, but the audio was still playing the background sounds of the program, in this case a forest scene with a whippoorwill singing in the background. Hadn't notice it until the house was dead quiet at night.
