Facility. While it was very quiet around the hospital I did manage to find 32 species with out trying too hard. The highlight was indeed a Common Loon seen feeding amoung various other waterfowl around the Patients Fishing Pier in front of Building 22H. Three Adult Eagles were also found on the nearby rocky shoreline that encompasses the facilities southern border. Below is a list of the waterfowl species seen today. Common Loon (1) Pied-billed Grebe American Coot (many) Tundra Swan (hundreds on the Susquehanna Flats, 2-3 miles of shore) Canada Goose (c.1000 scanned carefully for GWFG-none) Mallard (many) American Black Duck (c.25) Lesser Scaup (1) Ring-necked Duck (5) Canvasback (8) Rudy Duck (4) Bufflehead (many) Hooded Merganser (3) Common Merganser (many) Note: There has been a notable lack of Widgeon and Gadwall lately. Also there has been an equally notable rise in numbers of hunters in rescent days.
