The handsome fellow took off and sat in a dogwood to feed on his prize, a House Finch that had been afflicted with Mycoplasma conjunctivitis. The kestrel was very wary as he ate, constantly looking around as if he expected an interruption. Later in the afternoon Nancy saw a Sharp-shinned Hawk make off with yet another House Finch. Little wonder our yard-bird kes was wary.
