Few species of birds but quality was high: MERLIN (2-3), probably three based on age and coloration; PEREGRINE, 1 adult; BALD EAGLE, 1 adult -- all of these perched in trees on the golf course; LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, 1 2nd year bird on the ice in Washington Channel, no other gulls of interest -- maybe the continued cold weather will bring more birds in. On the way home, a large white blob near Roosevelt Island (with Canada Geese) was probably the Tundra Swan but we couldn't find a place to pull over and look. Along Connecticut Ave. in DC, lots of Robins flying overhead.
