We are again aiming to cover the entire length of the Canal with competent birders. The following miles are unassigned as of Monday morning: 17-18-19 !!! This is Swain's to Pennyfield Lock, terra very cognita to DC/Montgomery birders. 84-85 Near Sharpsburg, just below the closed stretch of towpath, good access both ends. 116-117-118-119 {120-121?] Near Hancock and Williamsport; includes Little Pool, good access both ends. Some miles possibly in Allegany County where Ray Kiddy rrkiddy@hereintown.net is cooordinating that Chapter's concurrent Mid-Winter Count. If you want to count elsewhere, anywhere along the towpath or adjoining paths within the Park, you are welcome to team up with already assigned birders, or count independently and your sightings will be tabulated if reported mile-by-mile. We have been plagued with wrong dates, email addresses and phone numbers, but correct contacts are Peter Vankevich pvank@netacc.net 202-397-5593 or Mike Milton mikemilton@attglobal.net 202-965-6672.
