Fallon" Subject: Rough-legged Hawk on Patuxent MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Two sightings of interest in the course of the PG Mid-winter count, at Merkle WMA: a small flock of 5 Horned Larks flying over - not unknown in PG even in breeding season, but now quite uncommon even in winter; and a dark-phase Rough-legged Hawk across the river (so actually in AA Co), flashing the white in its wings and at times hovering Kestrel-like as this hawk sometimes does. Also seen were 4 imm Bald Eagles sitting together on the river ice, sharing a quiet moment together.
