Stops included Greenbelt Lake, Wharf Road, the National Colonial Farm, and Mockley Point. Highlights for me were the Redheads & the Pheasant seen at the Colonial Farm. With seven people in attendance, the following birds were seen: Ruddy Ducks Northern Pintails (Greenbelt Lake) Mallard Common Mergansers (many along Piscataway Creek & Potomac) Hooded Mergansers Red Breasted Mergansers Lesser Scaup (many) Greater Scaup (one or two) Common Goldeneye (one female near Mockley Point) Redheads (4 or 5 at Mockley Point) Buffleheads American Coots (only seen at Greenbelt Lake) American Wigeon (Greenbelt Lake & Mockley Point) Black Ducks Canada Geese Tundra Swans Horned Grebe Canvasback Belted Kingfisher Pileated Woodpecker Hairy Woodpecker Northern Flicker Red Bellied Woodpecker American Crow Fish Crow American Robin Eastern Bluebird Hermit Thrush (many) White Breasted Nuthatch Carolina Chicadee Brown Creeper Carolina Wren Northern Cardinal European Starling Mourning Dove Rock Dove Ring Billed Gulls Herring Gulls Great Black Backed Gulls Ruby Crowned Kinglet Mrytle Warbler Tufted Titmouse White Throated Sparrow Song Sparrow Swamp Sparrow Black Vulture Turkey Vulture Bald Eagle (imm.) Red Tailed Hawk Red Shouldered Hawk Northern Harrier Great Blue Heron Northern Mockingbird Brown Thrasher Blue Jay Slate Colored Junco House Sparrow Killdeer Common Grackle Pheasant sp. We believe that the Pheasant, which was seen at fairly close range, but backlit, was a Ring-Necked Pheasant, although I don't believe that anyone confirmed actuallying seeing the neck ring. It was seen briefly at rest and in flight at the entrance to the parking lot at the Colonial Farm. We were unable to relocate the Greater White Fronted Goose at the Colonial Farm.
