Mime-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit I was out this morning just after 7 a.m. walking my dog and had a male Cardinal singing in the yard. Not just a couple of songs -- strong repeated singing for over an hour. Really nice to hear. At the same time, a male Downy WP was drumming on a dead snag in the front of the house, being answered by a more distant drum across the road. So despite the fact that my snowdrops are snow-bound (at this time last year they were in bloom) and pansies are flattened by ice, spring IS coming! (Written with some resentment as my husband is in India at the moment sending back reports of warm sunny days and lots of exotic birds...)
