The Northern Pintail pair is still there -- I saw both the male and the female. I suspect the female is there all the time, but is hard to pick out among all the Mallards, with whom they pal around. There were also 13 Ring-necks, keeping to themselves as usual, and the "Mallard Goose" -- a Canada who thinks he's a duck, and hangs out with them rather than with the geese. Oddly, there were no other Canada Geese at all, nor was there a single gull anywhere on the lake. I saw two flyover gulls, but that was all. Maybe they all went to Florida for the weekend ... I wish I could! With sleet and snow forecast all weekend, it was heartening to hear so many birds singing spring songs -- the Titmice have been singing for weeks, but today I also heard House Finches, Cardinals, Mourning Doves and Song Sparrows. It was so nice to have a reminder that spring is really coming!
