We took the scenic route = home via Massey, Millington, Morgnec, Chestertown, and Great Oak Landing = to look for birds dodging the infrequent cars and frequent snowplows. There were a lot of birds along routes 299 and 313 from north of Massey = to Millington. Other modest hotspots included parts of route 291 (River = Rd), route 298, and Morgnec Rd, and Handy Point Rd and the road to Great = Oak Landing. Our best find was a single male Lapland Longspur just south = of Massey on 313. Other birds included 240 Horned Larks, 95 Savannah = Sparrows, 9 Fox Sparrows (most near our home), 35 American Pipits, 10 = Eastern Meadowlarks, and a Hermit Thrush. Driving some of the low = priority side roads was sometimes an adventure with all the drifting = going on. Still it was a nice way to wend our way home.
