Since Bonnie started the post I will tell you about the sparrows first :) This fall I purchased a window tray feeder. This has turned out to be the most exciting feeder this winter. Between Saturday and Sunday I have had a White-crowned Sparrow, American Tree Sparrow, and a Song Sparrow. When it comes to birds I feed them all, we also had an immature Red-tailed Hawk successfully hunting the feeder areas in the yards yesterday and an adult Cooper's Hawk here this morning. We had an eight foot pine tree for Christmas this year which I lean up against a tree near the feeders and pour seed over the top and let it fall through. This has become a favorite spot for many of my bazillion (technical term) Juncos and White-throated Sparrows. I have not seen any Bluebirds although I have kept a supply of meal worms available. I do have Carolina Wren, first time I have seen 2 at the same time, taking advantage of the worms. Also seen in numbers at the feeders were: Cardinal Carolina Wren (2) first time I have seen two at the same time White-breasted Nuthatch Carolina Chickadee Goldfinch House Finch Downy Woodpecker Hairy Woodpecker Blue Jay Mourning Dove Rusty Blackbird Startling (luckily only 2 so far) Grackle Hope everyone else is holding up well in the storm.
