I certainly agree with Harry. As some of you know, I've had a window feeder (right next to my computer) up for quite a few years now. My window feeder list is up to 27 species, three of which are new this season: Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, American Robin and Hermit Thrush. The thrush showed up after the snow on 2/7 and has been present daily. The storm of this weekend has brought hundreds of birds to the feeders in the yard and the window feeder has been extremely busy. It contains: peanut chips, hulled sunflower chips, Zante currants, raisins, a suet mixture called Nuts 'n Bugs, two hanging suet feeders (one with raw suet, the other with peanut suet) and a small cup that gets filled with live mealworms. Naturally, among the insect eaters, the mealworms are wildly popular. So much so that a spilled cup on my computer desk was just too much to resist yesterday as the snow was falling and winds howling: http://www.nestbox.com/bkydwinter.htm. I had inadvertently left the window open a crack when I left the room for a short time. I returned to find a Carolina Wren at the cup with bluebirds trying to fly through the window glass. I couldn't resist the photo op. Much of yesterday was enjoyed photographing visitors to the window feeder: http://www.nestbox.com/bkydwinter2.htm. Needless to say, it's my favorite feeder of all.
