A few minutes ago, a neighbor finished digging out my drive way with his big (commercial equipment) tractor and scoop. I had been out around 1:00 to restock feeders. Moments ago a new feeder bird for the year showed up - a Chipping Sparrow. It joined a great scene outside my computer room window, where there is a small covered feeder about 10 feet out, and now surrounded by an excavated pit in the ~20 inches of surrounding snow. At this feeder the current viewing treat is: Chipping Sparrow 1 Fox Sparrow 1 Song Sparrow 3 White-throat Sp 6 Junco 45 House sparrow 2 Towhee 1 F Cardinal 6 Blue Jay 2 Common Grackle 24 Red wing Blackbird 75 A great day to be doing my Cornell Univ Project Feeder Watch!
