I assume that field mice and rats are easier prey than most birds, especially the Canada geese that feed on adjacent fields. It is not a perfect solution but avoids killing the feral cats for doing what they must do to survive. Mainly I told this to warn people to find out how organizations deal with feral cats that are handed over to them--that it may not be a perfect solution. Do you know what happens to feral cats in your vicinity?
