But too much or the meat we usually have around the house is not good for them. Never offer processed meats like balogna or hotdogs. They will eat it, but it can kill them! No cooked meat either. You might be surprised, a red-shoulder may eat live meal worms. Best bet is to keep some frozen mice, available at many pet shops, on hand. Thaw in warm water and leave outside in a conspicuous place. If the hawk is hungry and feels it can safely take them, it probably will. Steve H.
