Also saw a thrush. It did not have an obvious bright-red tail and I suspect it was a veery. I need to take binoculars with me on my walks. If those two species are the only likely possibilities this time of year, I'm 99.5% sure it was a veery. Also saw quite a few rufous-sided towhees, but those have been around for a while.
